Elizabeth Goudge 1900 - 1984
Dear Friends of Elizabeth Goudge, My name is Kate Lindemann. I am retired professor of philosophy and an out of print bookseller - one of the very few booksellers who specializes in Elizabeth Goudge's works. Like many of you I have read and reread Elizabeth Goudge's books. Over the years I have accumulated a full inventory of her works as well as a some research papers about her life and work In 1997 I made the first of several trips to England to visit the places where Elizabeth Goudge lived and to read letters saved in various libraries. The people in England were most gracious and very helpful. Their hospitality was kind and generous. And I enjoyed my visits very much.....and I learned a great deal about Goudge, about historical sites AND the public transportation system. Upon my return, I decided to make a web site to share some of what I saw and learned. Knowing that not every one has the opportunity to travel through Goudge's England and yet realizing that seeing England made her works even more enjoyable, I thought that Goudge's readers might enjoy the books so much more if they had greater background and some images of the countryside. And so I began this web site. After several months away from it, I have returned and am trying to keep my promise to add new material regularly. My hope is that this Elizabeth Goudge site will offer a glimpse of her world and the world of her stories.. If some of the pages on this site seems 'slightly familiar' to you, it could be that you visited an earlier version of this web site that was on line some years ago.. An auto accident prevented me from keeping that web site active. But it was always my plan to put a new Elizabeth Goudge web site online. So when I started composing this site, I incorporated some of the material from the first Elizabeth Goudge web site..
